swap paperback books

Package I mailed to someone has PEE on it! What should we do?
I trade books on Paperback Swap. Also I have paid extra to do what is called Box Of Books. This way I can trade a whole box of books with someone. They send me a box of books I’ve requested and I send them a box in return.
I sent someone 2 books. I’ve done this about 40 times and it’s a lot of fun. I used an envelope someone send me books in and taped it up really tight. The books were like new and just fine when the mailman took them off.
Well the person got the books today. She told me the package SMELLED OF PEE! She said it had soaked through to the books & once book had to put outside it stunk so bad. She said she doesn’t think the other book can be saved.
I wrote her right away & apologized. I told her ofcourse I didn’t do this & I was shocked that the post office would even deliver a package that smelled of urinie. I offered to look at my bookshelf and pick 2 more to replace the damaged ones.
Should she call her post office and complain? This is their fault.
I would call the Postmaster & file complaint.
Sounds like package was left on porch or by mailbox – dog or tasteless man came by the package.

The Swap
$3.98 Life in a town in the north of England in the 1950s can be tough on a lad. This lad especially. At home, his mum is always embarrassing him, his dad is not around, and money is scarce. At school, the bully is always thumping him, and his best friend, Tony, is put into a different classroom; the class scapegoat is always making him feel guilty. The one time he actually sticks up for someone, he ends up getting sent to the geadmaster. No wonder he can't wait to swap. On the school exchange, he'll swap houses for a week with some lad from London. There, he'll get to live in a posh house, like a mansion, with three toitlets. "With a bit of luck," his mum says, "I'll get a nice young man who'll keep his room tidy and make his bed. . . .Now that'd be a grand swap." But when he finally gets to swap, he's horrified to find himself fighting tears on the entire bus ride, same as Keith Hopwood, who's blubbering behind him. Least he doesn't throw up, like Keith Hopwood. . . .George Layton brilliantly captures the balancing act of one boy's eleventh year, when he faces prejudice and poverty and pride, and unwittingly discovers who he is. . .and who he isn't. |

The Swap
$10.48 Ever have a moment you wish you could undo? A wickedly brilliant tale of revenge, mystery, and fate, Antony Moore’s The Swap is at once a gripping thriller and a hilarious black comedy—a book for anyone who’s ever wondered what could have been. . . .Harvey Briscow—smoker, drinker, comic-shop owner—is facing another school reunion back in Cornwall. Having spent the last two decades second-guessing himself, Harvey isn’t thrilled at the prospect of showing his classmates the mess he’s made of his life. But this is Harvey’s twentieth reunion, a milestone that all but guarantees that Charles “Bleeder” Odd—the freakish reject who made off with Harvey’s now-priceless Superman One comic in a school-yard swap—will be in attendance. But when Harvey returns to Cornwall, hoping to retrieve his comic, he’s met with more than a few surprises. . . . Bleeder is now dazzlingly successful—and quite content to watch Harvey squirm, refusing to acknowledge their long-ago trade. And Harvey—fueled by drink and the promise of a beautiful woman—soon makes a fateful choice, one he instantly wishes he could undo. A dead body and an enraged husband further complicate matters . . . but there’s a silver lining in this strange chain of events: suddenly one bad swap is the least of Harvey’s regrets. . . . |

The Life Swap
$21.98 LET'S SWAP LIVES began the ad Nancy Weber placed in The Village Voice in February, 1973. Thirty-one, a swinging single writer, happy but yearning, Nancy wanted another woman to witness her life from within while Nancy was living a whole new kind of existence—loving strangers as her own (including kids, she hoped), doing other work, assuming a different dailiness. She and Micki Wrangler, a psychologist in an open marriage, swapped lives for one tumultuous week. Before reality TV, there was reality…and The Life Swap recounts all the intimate details of an adventure often imitated but never equaled. "This book is the memoir of one of the bravest acts of literary guerilla warfare it has ever been my pleasure to encounter." —Harlan Ellison |
