Mathematics integration; you see any errors in my textbook of mathematics?

I'm studying maths A-level by ics distance learning and have an A-Level Mathematics Book. I'm on the chapter on integration. I write the question I was asked and the answer I gave and the answer in which she says is correct. I still think I think if they are right and perhaps made a mistake, although I am not a mathematical genious not for long: you are) that dy / dx = 2x +4. to find a / use of integration y in terms of my x. Answer: y = x ^ 2 +4 x + c. The answer was the same at this point. b / Since y = 3 when x = 2, an equation for y. My answer: y = x ^ 2 +4 x-9. Your answer: y = x ^ 2 +4 x-5 c / the value of y at the point where the slope of the curve is zero. My answer is now obviously clear from the pound as a constant is different to be different. My answer is -13 and their -9. I can not figure out where they are then the answer, as I go about it and get my answers. Thanks for the help

b / Since that y = 3 when x = 2, you will find an equation for y. My answer: y = x ^ 2 +4 x-9. 3 = 2 ^ 2 +4 (2) + c 3 = 4 + 8 + cc = 3 to 12 c = -9 y = x ^ 2 +4 x-9 Your answer is correct; them is wrong. Since your part b is correct, c is the part of law as well. Make mistakes in the text books or online books happens etc. Do you trust your own abilities!

Taking a slightly different approach from similar texts, Introduction to Abstract Algebra presents abstract algebra as the main tool underlying discrete mathematics and the digital world. It helps students fully understand groups, rings, semigroups, and monoids by rigorously building concepts from first principles. A Quick Introduction to Algebra The first three chapters of the book show how functional composition, cycle notation for permutations, and matrix notation for linear functions provide techniques for practical computation. The author also uses equivalence relations to introduce rational numbers and modular arithmetic as well as to present the first isomorphism theorem at the set level. The Basics of Abstract Algebra for a First-Semester Course Subsequent chapters cover orthogonal groups, stochastic matrices, Lagrange’s theorem, and groups of units of monoids. The text also deals with homomorphisms, which lead to Cayley’s theorem of reducing abstract groups to concrete groups of permutations. It then explores rings, integral domains, and fields. Advanced Topics for a Second-Semester Course The final, mostly self-contained chapters delve deeper into the theory of rings, fields, and groups. They discuss modules (such as vector spaces and abelian groups), group theory, and quasigroups.

This is a concise introductory textbook for a one semester course in the history and philosophy of mathematics. It is written for mathematics majors, philosophy students, history of science students and secondary school mathematics teachers. The only prerequisite is a solid command of pre-calculus mathematics. It is shorter than the standard textbooks in that area and thus more accessible to students who have trouble coping with vast amounts of reading. Furthermore, there are many detailed explanations of the important mathematical procedures actually used by famous mathematicians, giving more mathematically talented students a greater opportunity to learn the history and philosophy by way of problem solving. Several important philosophical topics are pursued throughout the text, giving the student an opportunity to come to a full and consistent knowledge of their development. These topics include infinity, the nature of motion, and Platonism. This book offers, in fewer pages, a deep penetration into the key mathematical and philosophical aspects of the history of mathematics.

A Solid Conceptual Basis for Evaluating Textbooks PMiddle Grades Mathematics Textbooks: A Benchmarks-Based Evaluation presents the results of the first application of a rigorous curriculum-material evaluation procedure--developed by the American Association for the Advancement of Science's Project 2061--which determines how well textbooks help students learn key ideas in math and science. PCompelling Data PMiddle Grades Mathematics Textbooks describes Project 2061's groundbreaking evaluation of 13 middle grades math textbook series, including those that are widely used and others that are new to the market. For the first time, educators will have profiles for each textbook series, providing insights about its potential for helping students learn the mathematics content. PThe 204-page book contains: P* A full evaluation report on each textbook with easy-to-read charts P* An overview of how and why the textbook evaluation was conducted P* A detailed description of Project 2061's analysis procedure, how it was developed, and its research base. P* Suggestion for using the evaluation data for textbook selection, profesional development, and more. PA Companion CD-ROM PMidle Grades Mathematics Textbooks includes a companion CD-ROM that contains all the evaluation data. The CD-ROM allows users to compare different sets of data side-by-side. PA Unique Approach PUsing selected learning goals form national or state standards or benchmarks as a guide, the Project 2061 curriculum-materials analysis procedure provides a careful review of both content and instruction and gives a clear picture of a materials strengths and weaknesses.

This text explores the power of mathematics and shows how mathematics has revolutionized the world. The main theme throughout this book is problem solving. In the first part of the book, "The Power of Mathematics," Smith begins by discussing math anxiety and how to formulate the problem. Students develop confidence and then learn problem solving techniques from arithmetic, algebra, and geometry. In the second part of the book, "The Utility of Mathematics," students apply these techniques to topics that were selected because of their usefulness to students. The topics include managing money using the ideas of interest, installment buying, credit card buying, inflation, buying a car or home, sets, probability, contests, statistics, surveys, and the influence of these topics on students' lives. While building critical-thinking and communication skills, students develop an appreciation of mathematics as they each learn something that will make life easier, less costly, or more efficient.

Mathematics: The New Golden Age offers a glimpse of the extraordinary vistas and bizarre universes opened up by contemporary mathematicians: Hilbert's tenth problem and the four-color theorem, Gaussian integers, chaotic dynamics and the Mandelbrot set, infinite numbers, and strange number systems. Why a "new golden age"? According to Keith Devlin, we are currently witnessing an astronomical amount of mathematical research. Charting the most significant developments that have taken place in mathematics since 1960, Devlin expertly describes these advances for the interested layperson and adroitly summarizes their significance as he leads the reader into the heart of the most interesting mathematical perplexities -- from the biggest known prime number to the Shimura-Taniyama conjecture for Fermat's Last Theorem.Revised and updated to take into account dramatic developments of the 1980s and 1990s, Mathematics: The New Golden Age includes, in addition to Fermat's Last Theorem, major new sections on knots and topology, and the mathematics of the physical universe.Devlin portrays mathematics not as a collection of procedures for solving problems, but as a unified part of human culture, as part of mankind's eternal quest to understand ourselves and the world in which we live. Though a genuine science, mathematics has strong artistic elements as well; this creativity is in evidence here as Devlin shows what mathematicians do -- and reveals that it has little to do with numbers and arithmetic. This book brilliantly captures the fascinating new age of mathematics.
