horror books download

Where can i download ghost /Horror e-books for free ?
I am a avid story reader ,but i am not able to find any ghost novels or Horror novels in net to be downloaded for free . Though i can spend money but i don’t know how the book will turn up after downloading
Please tell me if there exist any site/portal/torrent where i can download such genre e-books . I don’t mind reading older novels like stroker’s dracula and content can be adult also, but please someone tell where can i find ghost stories
Any stories in the public domain you can probably get. gutenberg.org is a good choice for those. Other than that, anything still protected by copyright law is not available free unless it is from a public library or the author has authorized for it to be given away free.
I just found out that St. Martin’s is giving away two freebies (mystery books). You can find them here: http://us.macmillan.com/BookCustomPage.aspx?isbn=9780312334871&m_type=4&m_contentid=5927#cmscontent
They are only available until June 12 though.

Horror
$39.48 Horror has an established tradition in both fiction and film. From books such as Frankenstein and Dracula to films such as Seven and The Blair Witch Project, the genre holds an irresistible appeal for modern audiences. But why? Is horror an anti-establishment force and an argument for social revolution? Is it a liberating expose of human nature and a peek at the dark side of the unconscious? Or is it pure evil, solely designed to corrupt and deprave? Starting from such questions about the nature of horror, this book offers an accessible history of the genre. Using examples from key Gothic texts of the Romantic period, as well as more recent popular novels and films, it approaches its subject thematically. It includes chapters on horror, religion and identity; "mad science," vampires and the undead; madness and psycho-killers; forbidden knowledge and books; narratives of invasion and pestilence; Satanism and demonic possession; ghosts and the ghost-story; and body-horror and metamorphoses. |
